Première for choir and strings

Star-high, heart-deep is Janet’s setting of Ursula Bethell’s poem ‘Twinkled to Sleep’ for mixed choir and strings. It will be premièred by Granta Chorale and Hellier Strings at a gala concert in St Mary’s Saffron Walden on 6th June 2026. The words depict the twinkling of the New Zealand night sky and how it makes the heart dance, bringing peace and sleep.

I Sing and Ever Shall – Guildford Choral

Guildford Choral conducted by Jonathan Willcocks are performing Janet’s I Sing and Ever Shall on Saturday March 14th 2026 at Holy Trinity Church, Guildford. Including texts by Emily Dickinson, Sara Teasdale, Rabindranath Tagore and Robert Herrick, the cantata celebrates the joy of singing. Its classical-style orchestral line-up matches that of many works by Mozart and Haydn and it is paired in this concert with Haydn’s Mass in the Time of War.

Harvest Song – A Shaker Song in three variants

Janet’s new arrangement of a beautiful Shaker work song contains three variants which can be sung continuously or as separate interludes in a concert. Granta Chorale gives the première in their concert:  ‘All in the end … is harvest’ in Corpus Christi College Cambridge on 17th October. The piece can be sung by a flexible line-up of at least 4 voices with piano.

What a Wonderful World Festival

Janet is delighted to be taking part in this 4-day event in Alnwick, Northumberland, which brings together the arts and sciences to raise awareness of the climate emergency and focus on what we can each do to tackle it.
